Tips & Tricks: How to get books and articles for free?

Seven years ago, finding books related to the areas of my research was like a headache. This is maybe because I didn't know more about the power of the Internet. But now, it is like a piece of cake. Taking an online course by Google about searching, following people via social media and spending much time browsing, I have learned some ways that I consider helpful to any researcher. In this post, I will tell you some tips and tricks that can help you to find what you need:

1. B-OK Free e-Book Library:

You can download 10 books for free per day without signing in. To download as many books as you can, please create an account for free by choosing "Registration" from the "Sign in" tab on the top of the page. To use this website, please follow the steps below:
  1. Type your key words in the search box, e.g., "Creative Writing."
  2. Click search.
  3. To get the book, hit "Download PDF" under each book as shown in the screenshot below.

Google is the first search engine that comes to my mind when I look for some resources. You just need to know some advanced tricks. Just go to the search box and type your key words + (dot) + the extensions of the file (PDF or DOC). This will help you to find reviewed articles, studies, or books published in pdf or doc. I will give you an example:

Blended Learning in EFL classes.pdf
Creativity.doc

3. Google Books:

There are lots of free online books there. Go directly to Google books, type your key words, and then hit search. Choose those books which include "Preview." This means you can view most of the content.

Tip: If you like the book but you don't find all the pages, you can take the title and put it in the Bookzz Library or Google Search that we talked about earlier. Maybe you can find the whole resource. I have tried this way a lot and it works well with me.

4. ScienceDirect Open Access:

It is a leading full-text database offering some articles and book chapters for free. Just go to the "Advanced Search" and check the "Open Access articles only." Then, hit search. See the screenshots below:

 5. ERIC - Education Resources Information Center:

It is an online library of education research and information. You can find many free articles and studies in PDF form. To download full resources, kindly check "Full text available on ERIC." See the screenshot below:

I hope these tips and tricks would be helpful for you!
